With the new drag racing season upon us in the Carolinas and Virginia, King of the Streets series has started back at Motor Mile Dragway. Our fabricator, Matt Goins, has completed the build on his third gen Camaro named the Stepchild to partake in the racing at KOTS "Street Race" Class. After finishing the 2017 season with personal best et, it was time for upgrades as the Stepchild became a tad louder thanks to a new set of zoomies and switch to Methanol to make more power with the YSI blower. After coming off the dyno, this supercharged 400ci LS posted an impressive 1156whp (over 100whp more than last season)! A test session at Piedmont Dragway would yield great results as Matt outdid his personal best with a 4.80 pass in the 1/8th mile and a tune up ready to take on the competition.
With two races in the KOTS series, Matt finished Round 1 with a runner up finish, as we have switched to a different tire and new changes in the combo. Second race of the series Matt would make it to the semi finals where he was just barely nosed out by another lsx turbo Mustang. We will return to racing May 18th-19th as Matt will be competing in Ultra Street at Darlington Dragway during Takedown 4 and then back to Motor Mile Dragway on June 1st looking to make it to the winners circle and leave with the points lead at King of the Streets!
