Will Tick’s Steering Connector Fit On The Motion Racework Steering Column?

Our Endless Rotation Steering Connector is compatible with Motion steering columns, despite the larger diameter of their quick-connect hubThe correct installation procedure for an already installed Motion column requires the temporary removal of the inner steering shaft to allow the device to be slid onto the main outer column tube.

The Motion Quick Connect Hub presents an installation challenge due to its larger diameter compared to the column it connects to, which prevents it from sliding directly over the quick connect if the column is already installed.

“Motion Quick Connect Hubs have this larger diameter on them…” explains Matt. “it’s bigger than the column itself, which keeps you from being able to slip the device directly over the quick connect.” The installation isn’t complicated, it just requires a couple extra steps.

Disconnecting the Inner Steering Tube

The installation must begin by temporarily removing the inner steering tube.

First, go to the engine bay and disconnect the bolt securing the inner column tube to the steering linkage or first steering joint. Marking the connection point is advised before removal. Once the bolt is removed, you'll be able to pull your inner tube out now from inside the car.

Installing the Endless Steering Wheel Connector onto the Column

With the inner tube removed from inside the vehicle, the main outer column tube is now accessible. That will give you the ability to put this device onto your column.

The ERSC is designed for a snug fit on the standard inch-and-a-quarter tube to maintain concentricity and prevent looseness. Some of these are going to fit tight, that’s intentional.

In some cases, you may need to sand some of your powder coat off... take some emery cloth and buff the end of the shaft. To ensure the device slides on smoothly. The device is then slipped onto the outer column tube.

Reassembly Of The Steering Column

After the device is positioned on the outer column, the inner steering shaft can be reinserted. Now we can continue the process of installing the steering wheel and getting this thing locked in place.

The steering wheel, with the ESRC already bolted to its quick-connect hub, is placed onto the shaft, ensuring it locks securely.

Steering Wheel Installation

Finally, the ESRC is pulled towards the steering wheel, and the set screws are tightened to secure it firmly onto the column tube.
