Tick Performance proudly offers our Elite Series of Camshafts designed specifically for GenV LT-Series Engines, including the L83 5.3L and the LT1, LT4 and LT5 6.2L! Using the latest and greatest technology available, we've put together a complete line of Camshafts that are designed to meet every goal, from mild to wild. Our Elite Series of Camshafts are all manufactured by Cam Motion and are updated with a new version every time an advancement in valvetrain technology becomes available, so they're ALWAYS cutting-edge!  Although we suggest measuring for piston-to-valve clearance during ANY camshaft install, every Elite Series Camshaft is designed to fit in a stock engine & stock heads with adequate clearance unless otherwise noted. These cams are designed to maximize power, reliability and valvetrain longevity.

This Tick Performance Elite Series Camshaft Package for Gen 5 LT Engines includes the following:

  • ANY Tick Performance Elite Series Camshaft for Gen5 LT Engines (TowMAX Cams ONLY Available with VVT) (click here to view them all)

...and although this package includes everything you NEED to upgrade during a Camshaft Upgrade, there are a few things that we HIGHLY suggest upgrading at the same time.  Since they're not required, we make them options for you to choose during checkout:

Option Guide: Upgrade to 3 Bolt Camshaft?

If you will be deleting your VVT you will need to upgrade to a 3 bolt camshaft. Not available for ToxMAX Series Camshafts.

Option Guide: Delete VVT?

When it comes to deleting the VVT, there are several factors to take into consideration. On a boosted application the fast revving and extra load on the valvetrain will put excess stress on the cam phaser mechanism. Because of these we recommend deleting VVT on ALL boosted or nitrous applications. On most naturally aspirated applications VVT can be retained however we recommend deleting it for MAX effort setups such as our Street Heat Stage 3 Polluter Cam. Not available for ToxMAX Series Camshafts.

Option Guide: Valvespring Type
During checkout, you have the choice between our Tick Performance Dual Valve Spring Kit (assembled here in house using PAC valve springs and our own retainers & locators).  Choose #
TP660DVSK and opt for the Titanium Retainers if you're trying to keep your valvetrain as light as possible. The LT4 cylinder heads require a unique spring kit with a different intake valve retainer so if you will be using a set of these heads please be sure to select the LT4 specific kit. If your application requires higher spring pressures, we offer our TP700DVSK kit featuring PAC1207X springs or our TP750DVSK kit featuring PAC1208X springs. These kits both come standard with our Titanium retainers.

Option Guide: Valve Seal Install Tool
If you don't already have a Valve Stem Seal Install Tool in your toolbox, now is a great time to add one, and our Tick Performance Billet Valve Stem Seal Installation Tool is manufactured here in NC, USA from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. This tool makes it easy to install PTFE valve seals on any .500 or .531 in. valve guide without seal distortion or gouging!

Option Guide: Cam Phaser Limiter

If you are planning to delete your VVT please select none. If you will be retaining VVT you must choose the engine specific cam phaser.

Option Guide: Pushrod Length Checker
Having the correct length pushrods in your engine is a critical factor in proper rocker arm geometry and this is the best tools to measure pushrod length with. During checkout, you can add a COMP Cams Magnum pushrod length checking tool that is precision crafted from a durable steel alloy that is finished with black oxide for years of accurate measurements. Their unique designs are easy to read and eliminate the need for expensive calipers. #7901-1 is capable of measuring from 7.500"-8.700".

Option Guide: Pushrod Length
The 7.850" hardened chromoly pushrod set is included in our Elite Camshaft Packages by default.  If you think you'll need a different length, you've got a wide variety to choose from during checkout.  All lengths are the same high quality hardened chromoly, ready for years of hard abuse.  These pushrods are all 3/8" diameter, .080" wall; if you'd like a different diameter or wall thickness, please place your order by phone.

Option Guide: Which lifter set do I need?
With all of our camshafts requiring the AFM/DOD to be deleted you will need to choose a new set of lifters. We offer several different options to suit most builds. We have taken the liberty to include new lifter trays with our drop in lifer options. If your application requires the use of higher spring pressures, we do not recommend using a drop in lifter and factory tray. If you need more information on a set of lifters, please check out the links below.

Morel 5290                       Morel 5294

Option Guide: Which Head Gaskets do I need?
Choose your head gaskets based on which engine you're installing these parts on. Available for LT1 6.2L, L83 5.3L and LT4. If you are looking for something other than GM gaskets, please give our friendly sales staff a call to place your order over the phone.

Option Guide: Which Head Fasteners do I need?
The OEM head bolts cannot be reused since they are Torque to Yield (TTY). We offer everything from OEM replacements to ARP2000 Head Studs for your convenience. For extreme setups, the ARP Stud Kit is our recommendation.

Option Guide: Timing Chain Upgrade
While upgrading your camshaft, it's easy (and smart) to upgrade your timing chain.  The GM 12646386 is a stock replacement chain.

Option Guide: Engine Gaskets
If you're installing your camshaft yourself, there are a few gaskets that should be replaced, and a few surfaces that will need to be re-sealed with RTV. If you opt for the replacement gaskets when you add this kit to your cart, you'll receive one Permatex RTV Tube #82194, 2x GM 12657430 Water Pump Gaskets and 1x GM 12634614 Crank Seal.

Option Guide: Is a Valley Cover required?
No. You can choose from either Tick Performance Knock-In DOD-Delete Plugs for 2014-2018 engines, Texas Speed DOD Delete Plugs for 2019+ truck engines, or Katech Engines Billet Valley Cover.

Option Guide: Do I need Fuel Pump Lash Cap?

On most LT4 High Pressure Fuel Pumps you will need to use the lash cap for proper pre-load. We of course always recommend measuring to verify.

Option Guide: Do I need a new Camshaft and/or Crankshaft Bolt?
Although you don't HAVE to replace them during your camshaft upgrade, it is smart to replace your camshaft and crankshaft bolts during the install (and we've actually heard of reused camshaft bolts breaking.) Applications with an OEM wet sump oiling system will use #12681018 Camshaft Bolt (also commonly called the Control Valve Solenoid) and #11547372 Crankshaft Bolt.  Applications with an OEM dry sump oiling system will use #12681018 Camshaft Bolt and #11570163 Crankshaft Bolt.

Option Guide: Oil Pump Upgrade
Just like your timing chain, it's easy (and smart) to replace or upgrade your oil pump during a camshaft upgrade.  The GM 12665357 is a stock replacement pump while the Katech pumps offer an upgraded billet gear. The pressure and volume will remain the same as your OEM engine unless you place a truck pump into a car engine (Tuning Required). For those of you with a factory dry sump engine we have the upgraded Katech pump.

Option Guide: Do I need a Trunion Upgrade?
Rocker arm trunion bearing failure is a common issue in the Gen V LT-series engines, unfortunately. Prevent this failure by upgrading to the Straub Technologies Trunion Bushing Kit when you upgrade your camshaft! Opt for bolts if you'd prefer to not have to manually clearance your stock bolts during the install.
