Blasphemi's Tick-Built Transmission

Blasphemi's Tick-Built Transmission

All-around gearhead and co-host of Roadkill, Mike Finnegan, exploded his transmission during a test at  Alabama International Dragway –right at the starting line. It was a dramatic moment that could have put a major damper on his plans to make it to the 2023Performance Racing Industry Trade Show. Luckily, he gave us a call and, with the help of G-Force Transmissions got Finnegan’s BlaspHEMI on the road to Indy. Here’s what happened.

Finnegan had to immediately leave town to shoot an episode of " Roadkill," which meant he couldn't attend to the car himself. After a few phone calls to some friends, his car was transported from Alabama all the way here to North Carolina. Matt (Co-Owner) & Aaron (Transmission Tech) wasted no time getting the car lifted and pulled the transmission to start diagnosing the T56 transmission.

Once the transmission was pulled it was transported to the transmission department here at Tick. Back in his element, Aaron began tearing down the transmission. After dealing with a stubborn input shaft the T56 transmission was completely disassembled & cleaned in the afternoon.

The next day Aaron began the re-assembly process utilizing G-Force parts we had on the shelf. While we waited for Aaron to button up the transmission Joe had to get other driveline parts damaged during the transmission. It wasn't an easy task by any means. The logistics of moving the car across states and coordinating between schedules and parts could have been a nightmare. However, Joe and Matt handled it effortlessly.

Back at Matt’s shop, the re-installation of the transmission began. The Mantic Clutch was re-used with a disc replacement, requiring a shim check. We keep our Slave Cylinder Setup Tools in stock! Matt did a quick check and adjusted the Tilton Hydraulic Release Bearing accordingly.

Matt provided our Hi-Flo transmission pump along with our latest T56 Transmission Fluid Pump Mounting Bracket Kit to keep the gears lubricated and happy.

After all the hard work and a few late nights Blasphemi was back on 4 wheels ready for a test drive! Not before Joe graciously offered Matt the opportunity to perform a celebratory burnout! Of course Matt did not pass up this opportunity to leave tire marks in his own shop!

The automotive community is like a family, and this experience has only reinforced that belief. The support, the skill, and the willingness to go the extra mile (quite literally, in this case) are what makes this community so special!

Mike & Blasphemi made it to PRI with a newly fortified transmission and a renewed sense of confidence! We're eager to see what it can do. There's always a bit of apprehension, of course, after such a significant repair, but Mike has immense faith in the work done by G-Force and Tick.
